Photos from the trip to Průhonice Castle and Park

On May 13, 2026, at a time when the park is in full bloom with magnificent rhododendrons, a group of international students and researchers from UCT Prague had the unique opportunity to visit Průhonice Castle and Park—a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Thanks to good relationship wiwth the Faculty of Science of Charles University in Prague and the Institute of Botany of the Czech Academy of Sciences, our group was able to access areas not normally open to the public. In the entrance hall of the castle, which houses the Institute of Botany, we watched a video presentation about the history of this remarkable site and its scientific significance, as it represents one of the most important landscape and botanical locations in Central Europe.

The program also included a guided tour of the castle’s interiors and ceremonial halls. Afterwards, our guide, Professor Zuzana Münzbergová, together with her PhD student from India, Mr. Murugash Manavalan, led our group through the entire park. They took us to spots offering the most beautiful views of the landscape, around ponds and blooming rhododendrons. The walk concluded in the greenhouses of the botanical garden.

Special thanks go to Professor Zuzana Münzbergová for her expert guidance and kindness, as well as to her PhD student Mr. Murugash Manavalan from the Faculty of Science, Charles University in Prague, for his helpfulness and support in organizing this exceptional trip.

Such experiences beautifully connect science, history, and international cooperation!
